Commodore's Report July 2024

July Commodore’s letter.

The Dick Brust Sail School was a resounding success with the most students enrolled, EVER! A big thanks to everyone who volunteered! From the kitchen staff who kept us all fed to the rescue drivers who kept us safe. We are also grateful to the instructors for their patience and enthusiasm. Also, I would like to thank everyone who stepped up to fill the many many jobs that had to be done. This all could not happen without the Sail School directors. A special thank you to Glen and RaeAnne for being directors for two years in a row! We look forward to next year with Mark Forrest and Joanna Richa as our 2025 Sail School Chairs.

July 4th is the unofficial start of summer and Ruth Hyde put on fantastic July 4th festivites.  A kids parade around the club and a waterslide were a highlight. The trailer residents made sure that there was something for everyone and hosted a social.

We are now in the dog days of summer with the frenetic spring behind us. A more measured and steady pace awaits us. Looking forward to the summer we have our weekly; Tuesday evening sail, Wednesday small boat racing, Thursday racing and burgers. Everybody has a day to sail with other sailors. We will continue with Saturday Fleet racing August 3, Jr. Fleet activities July 27, and the Women’s Regatta August 10. To end the dog days of summer and wrap up our summer season we will have the Jim Skeen Unregatta for the youth sailors on August 17.

Our youth program is going full steam ahead with the first week in the history books! Adam and Divina along with Kaitlyn and Chris have done a fantastic job getting the program started. We still have open slots available to EYC kids! Please go to the members only section of the website and sign-up for youth sailing classes. The first 3 weeks have been fully booked! We have 4 open spots available each week of July 29 to Aug. 2, Aug. 5-9, Aug. 12-16, Aug. 19-23, Aug. 26-30. Please sign up and take advantage of this opportunity.

Second star to the right, and straight on till morning.
