Eugene Yacht Club has a long tradition of teaching young people to sail. From a week-long Sail School (now in its fifth decade), to weekly supervised sailing during the summer, to supporting Sea Scouts and collegiate sailing teams. EYC is dedicated to encouraging young people to learn to sail.

Weekly Youth Sailing:

EYC is excited to join with Riverhouse (city of Eugene recreation program) to have sailing for youth on a weekly basis July thru August.

This is a great way to get more time on the water with an instructor to help hone those sailing skills, along with meeting and making friends that love to sail. The youth also get to sail in the City of Eugene Fevas' that are fun boats to sail.

EYC has 4 slots open each week for EYC members, family or close friends interested in this program. Riverhouse has already booked up all their spots so hurry and get yours scheduled.( If we do not fill up with EYC kids, Riverhouse will fill them with kids on their waiting list) Your child can sign up for 1 week or all weeks, there is no end to their learning experience on the water.

Sign ups for the h 2024 sailing season are now CLOSED!

EYC has forged a partnership with Oregon Youth Sailing Foundation which allows members and friends of EYC to make tax-deductible donations to OYSF that are returned in the form of grants to support Eugene Yacht Club’s Youth Sailing Program.

Over the last several years, EYC has been expanding and investing in our Youth Sailing Program. Through our partnership with the Oregon Youth Sailing Foundation, EYC raised enough money to fund construction of the new Youth Sailing Dock. In 2020, EYC received enough donations to expand our youth sailing fleet through the purchase of ten Opti boats for younger sailors. In 2021, we expanded further by purchasing six 420s to provide boats for our more advanced junior sailors. In 2022 we hired two dedicated youth sailing instructors to teach sailing summer camps for youth.

Donations to EYC through OYSF make it possible for us to refurbish our dedicated youth rescue boat and to purchase a second youth rescue boat to provide safety on the water for our junior sailors.

Other projects on the near horizon include funding youth sailing scholarships, supporting a youth sailing team, and hiring additional staff for youth sailing programs.
