EYC is located at the northwest corner of Fern Ridge Reservoir, which covers more than 9,000 acres. During the summer, moderate northerly winds generally develop in the afternoon and typically last until dusk. The lake’s reliable winds, uncrowded waters, and natural beauty all contribute to the excellent sailing conditions we enjoy.
The Army Corps of Engineers manages the reservoir primarily for flood control, so the reservoir is drained each winter, giving the sailing community an early spring to late fall sailing season.
