Commodore's Report August 2024

August 2024 Commodore’s Letter

The fall season is upon us with the days getting shorter and the lake level noticeably dropping. By the time this is published the Jim Skeen Unregatta has been sailed. If it went as it usually does a few seeds of the sailing bug have been planted. In two weeks our Youth sailing program with our partnership with the City of Eugene River House will shutter for the season. All of the classes were/are fully booked and it was a success. I want to thank Kaitlyn, Adam, and Divina for their tireless work on this inaugural season. It is quite a feat to pull off such a big undertaking. Hopefully, as with our Jim Skeen Unregatta we have introduced sailing to a new generation of lifelong sailors. Looking forward we have the Harvest Day Regatta August 31-October 1st and Commodore’s Cup September 14. This year's Commodore’s Cup will, tentatively, be sailed in Harbor 20’s, our newest fleet. The best sailor’s of each fleet will meet to vie for top honors as the best of the best. Our sailing season is slowly coming to an end so get out and enjoy the Tuesday Sail, Wednesday Dinghy races, and Thursday races or just sail.

Fair winds!
