Port Captain Report February 2021

We have had rain this year, but the best rains to fill the lake come in February, March, and April. So start your rain dances as there is snow in the mountain but we can always use more.

Please get your moorage requests filled out. Moorage requests for the 2021 season are due by March 14. It is all online on the EYC website. Follow the steps to make the correct request for your situation. Here are a few things to be aware of:

  1. Step 1 shows a Google map of the club with the moorage location of all the slips (this may or may not be 100% correct as it is updated after I finish assigning moorage).

  2. The Keep Moorage The Same form is used by all who wish to keep their current moorage or to change their moorage. To keep everything the same, fill out this form and then select the YES radio button. If you would like to change moorage you can ask in the comment section, or fill out this form and to change one or more moorage selections or to drop a moorage also fill out the Request To Change Moorage form.

  3. Use the Request To Change Moorage to tell me what you would like to change or what you would like to drop from last year's moorage. If you sold your boat please use the text field to tell me who purchased your watercraft and if it will still be on the grounds.

  4. The Request For New Moorage form is for new moorage or new boat ownership. Be sure to fill out the form completely with all the pertinent information.

If you did not pay for your wet moorage but only for storage last year, you will see that your moorage spot will be row J. If this is the case you will need to complete the Keep Moorage The Same form and select the NO radio button, then complete a Request To Change Moorage form to change moorage, and you will be added to the list of new moorage for this year.

We have EYC stickers for all watercraft that do not need an OR number. So if you do not have OR numbers on your watercraft (paddle boards, kayaks, and/or canoes) then you will need to contact me to get a moorage sticker. These stickers have an EYC burgee with a number in the center which needs to be affixed to the watercraft on the bow on top or on the starboard side at the bow. Please use the Request For New Moorage form to request an EYC sticker.

You may wish to check your tarps and covers. I know that my cover had pealed back about three feet—and it was on the lee side of the boat. So check your covers to avoid the depressing surprise this spring when you go to launch your boat and discover it was the nesting spot for geese.

Lastly, please remember that you are going to need the new Waterway Access Permit to use your paddle board, canoe, or kayak this season. See last month's Port Captain Report for more details.
