What a great year we have had! Recently we have had several terrific activities including a couple for kids and a couple for women. And our Harvest Regatta had the best turnout in several years. Finishing out on a high note! Thank you to Dean Mitchell who chaired that event and Rich Johnson whose team ran the races and to Michelle Wood who did much of the shore support work.
The Harvest Regatta is a sure sign that the season is winding down. The smallest boats have a month left, but the big boats will be coming out earlier. The Army Corps of Engineers reports that the draw down will start on October 1st according to their normal plan. I hope last year's early draw down will not be repeated anytime soon and believe that it was a reflection of the drought that year and the desire by the ODFW to keep the fish in the rivers downstream alive.
EYC has been given two pristine Lasers for our Junior program. I am an old Laser sailor, so I am really excited about this. This will allow a couple of Juniors to experience high-level racing since the very best men and women can go to the Olympics and sail Lasers and Laser Radials. But we could use a couple of more Lasers.
As Football Fog creeps in to enshroud our lives, please take some time to get out on the water while you still can.
